Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

In the interests of accuracy when ordering, we do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email. The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions is downloading the NHS App. You may find the following video helpful:

You can also:

  • Use the GP online system: Patient Access
  • Complete a ‘medication request’ form via PATCHS
  • Bring your paper slip to the surgery, or complete a prescription slip at our reception desk.
  • In circumstances where patients have limited access to online services or may be elderly/vulnerable; prescription requests may be taken via phone.

Collecting your prescription

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy. Always allow 3 working days for your prescription request to be processed and sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy. Please be advised we do not send notification of when this has been done; please check with your pharmacy in the first instance to see if your prescription is ready to collect.

Nominating a Pharmacy

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy. You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time on the NHS app or by contacting the practice directly.

Questions about your prescription

If you have any queries relating to your prescriptions please send a PATCHS form (either Admin or Medication request) or call us on 0161 881 4545 In the interests of appointment access, we ask patients to contact for prescription queries after 10am. If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions. Go to Medicines A to Z (nhs.uk)

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.
